Our Web-Based Equity Calculator for In-Depth Hand Analysis
We built RangeLab with our students in mind. It is a web-based equity calculator, so there is nothing to install, and it gives you an easier way to use an equity calculator while you learn, study, and play. Designed specifically for six-max games, RangeLab is easy to use and extremely robust, so you can evaluate hand versus hand, hand versus range, and range versus range, both pre-flop and post-flop, and understand exactly where you stand.
We are an online poker school that focuses on micro stakes, so we designed RangeLab for six-max, the most popular format online. Enter a range or a specific hand for UTG, MP, CO, BTN, SB, and BB, and see the equity for every player at once. You can use it anywhere from heads-up against one opponent up to five opponents.
Ranges are only part of the picture, so entering specific cards is a core feature of RangeLab. Test your own exact hand or a hand your opponent showed down by choosing the specific cards for any player. You may put an opponent on one specific hand, or you may be reviewing a hand you played earlier and need to enter that exact hand instead of a range. Either way, you can see how every hand stacks up.
Use the hand matrix to build the ranges you put your opponents on. Click any hand to easily add it to a range, or click and drag to select a whole group at once, so you can input ranges for your opponents very quickly.
In difficult spots, you will often want to filter down your opponent’s range, because an opponent may only have a certain hand some of the time. In other words, they may only hold certain suit combinations. Suit selection lets you assign specific combinations of any hand to your opponent’s range as you set it up, so you can be as precise as your analysis needs to be.
The slider is an easier way to assign a percentage of a range. If you want to put your opponent on a 60% range, you can simply slide to 60% instead of building it hand by hand, and RangeLab fills in that share of the strongest starting hands for you. Sometimes you just want to see how your hand does against a random range, so we also included a Random button that does exactly that.
Load the MicroGrinder Poker School pre-flop ranges straight into RangeLab, from raising first in and 3-betting to cold-calling, blind defense, isolation raising, and over-limping. If you are one of our students, you will already be using many of these ranges, so you can see how you are playing when you put our ranges up against your opponents. You can also save your own ranges into folders and use them any time.
As with any equity calculator, RangeLab lets you evaluate your equity pre-flop, on the flop, on the turn, and on the river. Add each new card as it arrives and watch how it helps or hurts every player.
A calculation is where RangeLab runs iterations of hands, and you choose how many. RangeLab gives you five calculation options: 25,000 hands (Faster) or 50,000 hands (Balanced), with 50,000 as the default. RangeLab Pro adds 100,000 hands (More Accurate), 200,000 hands (Most Accurate), and Run Continuously, which keeps running iterations until you tell it to stop, for more accurate calculations.
See every player’s equity in one clear view. Each position shows its range, a color-coded bar, and an equity percentage, so you know exactly where you stand the moment the calculation finishes.
In any post-flop spot, whether you are on the flop, the turn, or the river, the Hand Distribution pop-up shows every player in the hand and what their range is made of, broken down into made hands and drawing hands. See each category as a percentage of the player’s entire range along with the specific combos behind it, and compare up to three players side by side. To narrow your opponents’ ranges realistically as the hand plays out, click the X next to any made hand or drawing hand you think they would not continue with. It is removed from their range, and you can recalculate to see how their equity changes. This is how you funnel your opponents’ ranges from the flop to the turn to the river, based on your analysis and how they play.
Click any hand type in the Hand Distribution, such as two pair, to see the exact combinations in that player’s range, so you know precisely which hands your opponent could have.
RangeLab automatically accounts for blockers. Any card on the flop, turn, or river is removed from every player’s range, and so is any card you assign to a specific hand. For example, if you give one player the king of hearts and the queen of spades, no other player can have those cards, so RangeLab removes those combinations for you. A small amber dot on the matrix marks any hand with combinations removed. Hover over a hand to see which combinations remain and which were removed, or hover over a player’s position to see how much of the range is left.
As a web-based calculator, RangeLab uses Monte Carlo calculations, the standard approach for web-based equity calculators. In a Monte Carlo calculation, RangeLab runs tens of thousands, and up to hundreds of thousands, of iterations of random hands and averages the results.
Because the hands are random, you will see slight deviations from one calculation to the next, and how much they vary changes from one situation to another. If you are a RangeLab Pro user, you can choose 100,000 or 200,000 hands, or run continuously until you stop it, for the most accurate results.
